Lake Anosy in AntananarivoDay 1 : Arrival in Antananarivo :
On your arrival in the capital, you are welcomed by Canal Tours and brought to your hotel.

 

 

 


Day 2 : Antananarivo – Antsirabe :
Pot manufacturing in AmbatolampyDeparture for Antsirabe or « the Water City ».
On your way, you'll have the opportunity to visit traditional workshops in Ambatolampy producing the cooking pots of Madagascar, made of old car cylinder heads and old gearboxes. You can also visit the nature museum "La Cigale et la Mygale" ("The Cicada and the Tarantula") where over 6,000 insects from the whole world are on exhibit. Your entry fee will help young local students attend school.
Arrival in Antsirabe in the afternoon. Guided tour of the city - a well-known spa with mineral springs - and the volcanic lake of Tritriva with its mysterious history and legends (among others, the Malagasy version of Romeo and Juliet...).

Camping on the shores of the Tsiribihina RiverDay 3 : Antsirabe - Miandrivazo :
Drive to Miandrivazo, point of departure for the descent on the Tsiribihina River.
3 days of boat ride and 2 nights of camping.

Day 4: Start of the river descent : Masiakampy – Nosy Ampela :
Embarkment aboard a barge, then navigation to the village of Nosy Ampela with a lush vegetation Crocodileadorned by water bamboo, mango and tamarind trees… but also - with some luck - lemurs, wild ducks, and crocodiles taking their sun baths on the shores of the Tsiribihina. Arrival in Nosy Ampela in the late afternoon; setting up campsite.

 


River descentDay 5 : Second day of the descent : Nosy Ampela – Tsaraontana :

Before continuing our descent, the magnificent natural swimming pool of Nosy Ampela awaits us for a nice swim against the backdrop of a beautiful waterfall. Continuation of the descent, then stopover and guided tour of a small village Sakalava Dancewhere you'll get a chance to discover the daily lives of the Malagasy on the shores of the river. Arrival in Tsaraontana in the early evening. The evening will be animated by villagers performing dances and traditional chants of the Sakalava (the main ethnic group of the area). Night at campsite.

Day 6 : Last day of the descent : Tsaraontana – Belo-sur-Tsiribihina – Bekopaka :
Last day of the descent. Then continuation of the journey by road to Bekopaka, passing through Belo-sur-Tsiribihina. Night at hotel.

Tsingy de BemarahaDay 7 : Bekopaka : visit of the great Tsingy de Bemaraha
After the long, relaxing (and yet adventurous) journey on the Tsiribihina River, this day will be dedicated to discovering the Bemaraha National Park, which offers you one of the most spectacular landscapes of the Great Red Island, listed as a World Heritage Site since 1990. It is characterized by its Tsingy - spiny lime rock formations created by (then submarine) fossils and seashells deposited 200 million years ago, and formed by rains 5 million years ago.
TortoiseIt is also a haven for wildlife: 13 lemurs species (among them 3 diurnal and 10 nocturnal) are present, 94 land and water bird species, among them the Madagascar Fish Eagle (the "Ankoay") - endemic to the Western part of Madagascar, 15 bat species, 22 species of amphibians and 66 species of reptiles. Endemic mammals of Western Madagascar: a species of Vontsira mongoose and a giant rat species.

Avenue of the BaobabsDay 8 : Bekopaka – Belo-sur-Mer – Morondava :
Drive to Morondava. Discover the Sakalava tombs along the road. Continuation of our journey, passing through the famous Avenue of the Baobabs in the early evening, one of the most beautiful landscapes to admire the sunset. Night at hotel.

Day 9 : Morondava – Antananarivo :
Transfer to the airport and flight to Antananarivo. Pickup at airport, then guided city tour and possibility of souvenir shopping at the handicrafts market of the capital. Night at hotel.

Day 10: Return
Transfer to the airport for your return flight.

End of tour.
